I'm going arcane/frost on my alt (who will be used mostly for pvp). What would be my best option to finish my template, burst damage or survivability? The spec is mostly designed around Frost Nova to freeze then crits vs frozen targets, with Presence of Mind to compliment an addition attack when targets are at their weak point (frost nova, frost bolt, POM frost bolt, cone of cold, fireblast... nasty chain). What I am deciding between is Arcane Power or Iceblock to finish it up: www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/mages/talents.html?0500505122014300000000000000005050201200500000Ice Block - rank 1/1 Minimum Level: 30 Requires 20 points in Frost Mastery 15 Mana Instant cast 5 min cooldown You become encased in a block of ice, protecting you from all physical attacks and spells for 10 sec, but during that time you cannot attack, move or cast spells. Arcane Power - rank 1/1 Minimum Level: 40 Requires 3 points in Arcane Instability Requires 30 points in Arcane Mastery Instant 3 min cooldown When activated, your spells deal 35% more damage while costing 35% more mana to cast. This effect lasts 15 sec.

I know this isn't really answering the original question... but in my opinion, Ice is the only way to go it you want Ice Barrier. Other then that... Ice mages suck, and I have played an ice mage. I think if your mage is pvp, you should go with a different build. www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/mages/talents.html?0050505102214305052221300021000000000000000000Thats the build of my brothers 60 mage that is all pvp. Its fun as hell. Its more of on aoe build but that little gnome kicks ass. Either way, you die in pvp. Fire is fun... but then again, I'm a little pyro If you don't like fire, which I think you should try, the go for Arcane Power.

Well, ive experienced all the mages builds or atleast alot of them, and the last build i was, was an ap frost, 31/20 and i liked it because the damage, but i couldnt stand not having the ability to go immune for 10secs and then absorb 800 damage, but the easist and most damage to be done fast is a... Ap, fire build, for the pure fact you can get 3k pyroblast crits

Just from a pvp perspective...the ice block thing, you're gonna die anyway. Unless you use pots in BG (it gets expensive if you do, I know...ugh) it's not worth it. That nova thing that forces me to use my pvp trinket pisses me off almost as much as the feign death/insta-freeze trap thing hunters do.
If I were you...I'd just get Slayn back. I had Iceblade following me around last night healing me, 63 HKs, 16 Killing Blows, 3 Deaths in one game. Pwnd. And he had 61 HKs. Good times.

I have never gotten a 3000 crit with a pyroblast. Not even close. Maybe 3000 total with the ignite.
